I’d be keen to see more discussion of what kinds of positions in what kinds of non-profits would be sufficiently good to make it worth taking that first. It seems likely to me that a person could build the skills they acquire in a for-profit through non-profit work if the organization has the qualities that make for-profits good work experience, although it’s not clear exactly what those traits are.
