excellent picture --82.32.181.226 22:53, 7 February 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

It's an okay photo, but taken from a less than ideal angle at the wrong time of day to be optimal for illustrative purposes. I certainly wouldn't select it for use in the Palace of Westminster article. CalJW 15:04, 13 February 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
In other words, it's an excellent picture. - Dudesleeper · Talk 01:07, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Big Ben[edit]

You can't see Big Ben in that picture.

Big Ben is the bell inside of the tower. The tower is either called St. Stephen's Tower or The Tower of Big Ben. 89.240.99.201 10:58, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]

Yah; terminology such as '...colloquially known as 'Big Ben'...' appears almost as if the conflation is deliberate. Whether this reveals lack of knowledge or lack of rigor on the part of the writer, the result is the same: confusion for the individual reader at the least, while perpetuating an error in fact into the future of cultural understanding. btw - Big Ben is just one of the five bells in the Tower, albeit the 'Big'-gest one. <g>

Read the opening paragraph of Clock Tower, Palace of Westminster. "Big Ben" originally meant the bell but now it means both the bell and the tower. howcheng {chat} 22:32, 12 June 2007 (UTC)Reply[reply]
